The Crying Tree

Tuesday 30th March 2021, Ashridge Forest, UK. A 200-300 year old dead tree that has lost all of it's bark stands and gradually decomposes in the forest. Different coloured lichens give the appearance of an eye crying. As if the tree has discovered it has lost its splendour and that all that beckons now is the forest floor and its total loss. It also reminds me of the eye of an elephant.
